and its production of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens' Tony Award-winnning
musical Ragtime directed by Joe Locarro and choregraphed by Antoinette
DiPietropolo. This epic musical painted a nostalgic and powerful portrait
of America in the early 1900's. Based on E.L. Doctorow's distinguished novel, Ragtime intertwines three distinct stories that poignantly illustrate history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and love and hate. The diversity of the Ragtime score featured traditional Jewish folk sounds, vaudeville, gospel and jazz.
In the role of Sarah's Friend, in North Carolina Theatre's star-filled
cast, which included Norm Lewis, Michael Rupert and Julia Murney, Yolanda received noteworthy reviews! Yolanda also doubled roles in Ragtime as a Harlem
Ensemble dancer which she enjoyed very much! |
